about us

SCRAM was set up in 2003 by Eileen O'Connor and Lynn Insley; who attributed their illnesses to a mobile phone mast in the small village of Wishaw. They did a survey of the village and were horrified to find a very high proportion of cancer and other biologically related illnesses.

With the aid of the Internet they were able to contact other groups with the same concerns about these masts. It was found that around the world there are other incidents of illness “clusters” around mobile phone masts.

Since the group was formed it has been gathering reports from around the world and has the support of many independent scientists who feel that much more research needs to be done.

The aims and objectives of SCRAM are as follows:

  • To Support residents to make informed decisions regarding mobile phone masts near to them and their families.
  • To increase public awareness of the possible health hazards.
  • To campaign for the government to institute appropriate investigation into the gaps in the knowledge of health implications. To lobby for thorough independent research and to put a stop to further expansion until such time as investigations are concluded. To press for existing masts to be moved away from private homes, school, hospitals and other sensitive properties.
  • To press for a government campaign to inform the public, particularly our children, of the possible health risk associated with the personal use of a mobile phone.
  • To make Government, Industry, Landlords and Property Owners accountable.
